THERAPY

Focus Areas of Treatment

I provide support for individuals facing a range of mental health concerns, including:

  • Depression, burnout, and issues with self-worth
  • Anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias
  • Crisis situations involving high stress, major life transitions, career changes, and grief
  • Challenges related to expat life, cultural adjustment, and identity crises

In my practice, I strive to create a space where you feel understood and supported. I also emphasize the importance of your purposeful involvement in therapy. You’ll be encouraged to actively participate in the process, which often includes practicing new skills, completing exercises, and applying what you learn outside of our sessions. This way, you can build the tools you need to effectively manage your mental health.

Therapeutic Methods

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a scientifically-based, solution-oriented approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT focuses on identifying and changing patterns that may be holding you back, empowering you to make meaningful changes in your life.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment-Therapy (ACT) is another evidence-based approach that encourages you to accept your thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them. It helps you focus on what truly matters in your life and commit to actions that align with your values, even when faced with difficult emotions.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is centered on understanding and transforming your emotional experiences. This approach helps you become more aware of your emotions, understand their significance, and use them to guide positive change in your relationships and overall well-beingn.

ABOUT ME

After earning my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Neuroscience from Macalester College in St. Paul, USA, I continued my studies at Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich. There, I completed a Master’s degree in Neurocognitive Psychology before beginning my training as a psychological psychotherapist at the Institute for Therapy Research (IFT), where I earned my license to practice. I then completed my PhD at LMU in Munich.

In addition to my academic work as a research assistant at IFT, I gained practical experience at various clinical institutions. I worked at the LMU clinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy, the IFT outpatient clinic, and after my licensure, at the Neurozentrum Harlaching and the Kirinus Practice Marsstraße in Munich. Since 2023, I have been practicing in my own private practice.

PROCEDURE

Initial Consultation
We begin with an initial consultation in my office. You’ll share what brings you to therapy, and I’ll listen carefully to understand your situation. I’ll then provide feedback and offer some initial thoughts on whether there’s a diagnosis.
Assessment and Planning
Together, we’ll decide if therapy is the right approach and if I’m the right therapist for you. If we agree to proceed, we’ll develop a plan that fits your needs.
Insurance and Paperwork
If we move forward, I’ll guide you through the necessary paperwork to get coverage from your private health insurance. Please note that I work exclusively with private health insurance or patients who pay out-of-pocket.
Costs
The pricing for therapy sessions is regulated by German law through the Gebührendordnung für Psychotherapeuten (GOP). Private health insurance companies in Germany usually cover most psychotherapy costs, given a diagnosis. If you do not want to be billed through your insurance company, I would be happy to generate a private invoice.
